We are going home to New Hampshire for Independence Day, one of the states where it all began so many years ago.
As a kid growing up in NH, we visited many of the scenic areas and I thought I would share a few with you.
The Old Man of The Mountain is a natural rock formation that was created by a series of geologic events beginning an estimated 200 million years ago.
Over time, nature carved out a 40-foot-tall profile resembling an old man's face, and it soon became New Hampshire's most recognizable symbol. The face appears on the state quarter, state road signs and countless souvenirs and tourist brochures.
On May 3, 2003 a terrible thing happened to the Old Man and to NH, he fell off the mountain after watching over us for so many years. I miss his strong presence but he will never be gone to us New Hampshirites.
They are making a wonderful memorial to him and his caretakers now. If you would like to read about it and see a short wonderful clip, go to The Old Man of The Mountain Legacy site.
I just love covered bridges; NH is known for them and here is my favorite, The Flume Covered Bridge. It's located in Franconia Notch State Park in Lincoln, NH
I have crossed this bridge many, many times in my life, mostly as an adolescent.
This historic bridge, Bump Covered Bridge, is located in Campton, NH and crosses over the Beebe River.

Kancamagus Highway – Swift River
We would go to the mountains every summer and ride along the Kancamagus highway and swim in the Swift River. Isn’t it wonderful?

Thank you for taking a virtual trip to NH with me, and am glad I will be there in person in just a few days!
Happy Fourth of July to all of you, Kindredly Lynne Laura

Oh, I'm so jel. We love NH. Got to go...gah...hard to believe, 15 years ago. It was a dream vaca and that whole area is a place we try and get to as often as we can. The ONE day we drove to see the Man in the Mountain, it was too foggy and we missed it. We were so saddened to hear that it had fallen. What a loss. And LOVE the Kankamangus. Was one of our fav things. I took a whole roll of pics of the foliage, thinking each one was more brilliant that the last. Only to get home and have a whole roll of leaf pics. LOL. Lovely, but all the same. I hope you have a wonderful time.
