When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.

A Simple But Pretty Valentine

Since I love hearts, red, & pink, it just seems fitting to give a Valentine that has all of these features.

I purchased the jar from Crate & Barrel recently (on sale) and have been collecting heart stuff forever so it was easy to whip this up. You can too, I am sure you have things around your craft room for a simple project like this.

My local Archiver's store has a $1 section and that's where a found the pink alphabet letters (V used here) and a package of red cord ribbons (frayed style here). You never know where you are going to find a bargain and inspiration.

Your sweetie gets a pretty Valentine and Sweets...what could be better? I know, kisses & hugs. Grab a simple jar and see what you come up with.

Vintage Style Valentines from HomeGoods

Here are some lovely boxed cards I recently purchased from HomeGoods.

My plan is to paint my vintage chest white and display all these cards on top then add a piece of glass. Since I love hearts and all things vintage this is a perfect way to showcase my true loves. I can change out the display with the seasons, plan on doing a nesting a bird theme for spring/summer.

Only problem...having the time to paint that chest!

HomeGoods has been a favorite haunt for SEVERAL years & TJMaxx has been for 20+ years...fabulous finds for fabulous prices. My house is practically completely decorated from my finds at Home Goods and I dress myself in TJMaxx finds. You can find EVERYTHING you want at these stores.

Yesterday in a snow storm I simply had to have a HomeGoods fix! More postings on those treasures later.

Early Pink Saturday - Valentines

Hoping no one minds but I am putting up my Pink Saturday early.

Have you seen what Target has for Valentines? Lots of cute stuff...here is just a sampling of the lovely things.

My dearest hubby said he would drop by Target on the way home from work on Friday to get me these towels & face cloths: 1 set of the embroidered face cloths, 2 striped style heart bath towels,& 2 striped heart hand towels for our bath. Can't wait to get home and put them in the bath!! Maybe he will get me that cute little ducky and spatula...one can only hope.

Isn't this duck the cutest?

LOVE this spatula and it says made with love on the handle too.

Happy Pinks & Valentines!

Hop on over to see the rest of the posts on Saturday at Bev's.

A Wish & A Dream

Love these kinds of bottles so I thought I would try my hand at it...

What I liked best about these bottles, they have large openings so you can put in all kinds of goodies.

Have you tried getting into the bottle craze? I just grabbed some little bits and assembled the jars and I think they have just the right amount of sparkle.

New Awards

These two awards were from my dear blogger friend Cindy from Yapping Cat Studio, thank you so much Cindy. She makes wonderful journals and other crafts and I love her posts. She always puts her comic touches into her post and I am always LOL...

She is one blogger I can always count on to be there for me and ispires me to press on. Please feel free to take these and pass them on to your blogger friends that are most special to you.

I want to pass this along to my friend Barb in CO, her & I are always finding deals after Christmas and do the next Christmas shopping. She comes up with the most creative ideas from what she finds and we both scurry to order! Thanks Pips.

Birds are Gatherers & Use What They Have

I've already done the gathering (way too much), now it's time to "Use What I Have." I have never been a fan of the "less is more" concept but in this case...spending less gives me more money. My theme at least for a while is ...get rid of what I don't love, as I mentioned in my last post, as well as using what I already have to create the home I love and create new crafts. By sharing my progress, I hope you too will share yours.

Here I used old sheet music and ran it though my shredder to create the nest affect in one of these bird displays & used old neckaces that I didn't wear to hang and dangle from the glass globes. BTW you can always make photo copies of music sheets and shred those to use so you don't use your originals.

Making do with what we have and creating beautiful things from it has to be a good thing. I challenge myself and all of you to make do and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

A Brand New Year - The LOVE TEST

It's a new year filled with all kinds of possibilities and am looking forward to corresponding with all of you.

Look for more crafting, decorating, recipes, fun and friendship. I plan on featuring other bloggers on my blog from time to time as well and of course some giveaways.

This is my year to destash, trash or otherwise dejunk! Any way you put it, I am getting rid of stuff so I can enjoy the things I really LOVE. I will be instituting the LOVE TEST...do I love it, no, get rid of it. Do I love it, yes, keep it. Since I want to get rid of so much, I really need the LOVE TEST.

How about the rest of you? I will be selling on and off throughout the year some of my nicer stuff at cheap prices here on my blog, hopefully you all don't the overstuffed problem I do. When we had to make room for all the guests for Christmas, it was a real eye-opener! Let me hear about your New Years ideas, goals, fun things to do...

Happy Pink Saturday 2009

This started as a Christmas decoration 3 years ago but has become a year-round decoration. I just loved the pinks, purples and the vintage millinery flowers that it adores all the year through.

Happy Pink Saturday everyone, hop on over to Bev's to see all the participants.
