A Romantic Spirit

I've had this tree for several years now...just branches fallen from trees outside after a storm. As much as my husband would love it, I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.

It is cumbersome to move and it gets dusty but it really feels romantic, a symbol of Mother Nature reminding us of growth and strength. Trees take time to grow and hold a mysterious spirit, reaching ever upward despite what life may have to offer.

With this little branch tree I enjoy nature even when the weather is terrible and spring seems so far away.

(If you look close enough you can tell we are remodeling the family room, just don't look to closely!)

Castoffs to Glamour

We all have challenges to remain optimistic during these uncertain times. Creating things, watching romantic movies, chatting with friends, and being with loved ones, help to keep us plugging along.

So here’s to plugging along and making do with what we have.

I created this candle display from some unused and discarding items just taking up space in my house.

Using an old chandelier glass shade, I tied glass crystals from some garland I had bought but was too heavy for my tree. I broke off sections tied them with wire around the top and then added a broken broche and some other pink garland I cut a section from. Now it makes a spot comforting and pretty…what do you have lying around that you can transform?

Show me your transformations!

Ordinary to Fabulous

After the Transformation...

I took an ordinary wine bottle carrier and changed it into a lovely candle holder. I simply added two French glasses, votive candles, weaved some garland around the top, added a few crystals and a millinery flower and it is a whole new piece. All the pieces were hanging around in my house so it turned out to be a real bargain. It brings a feeling coziness and cheeriness to an otherwise dull area. Through the boring months of winter added sparkle is just what is needed.

Unfortunately, these pictures are not that clear but I think you get the idea.

Should I paint the wine holder white? What do you think?

True Love

Hope you are enjoying the lovely month of February with less than 2 weeks until Valentine's Day! Just sharing a couple pics of my decorations around the house.

My hubby and I went on an excursion to some shops this weekend because I have been having cabin fever and just had to get out. We also saw a movie, "New In Town" and it was fabulous. Just the right kind of movie, romantic comedy. You really need to see Harry and Rene together, they sparkle.
